Even though we lived 2,000 miles from each other, over the last decade Ellen and I had several opportunities to get together. In particular, from 2004 to 2008, my work at the University of Wisconsin took me to California about twice a year (LA and San Diego). Ellen and I would often plan some adventures together during those trips. In our adult years, we realized that one of the interests we shared was in attending theatre, in particular Broadway musicals. On my of my trips to LA, as a special treat, Ellen got us tickets to see WICKED. It is one of my favorite musicals; have now seen it 3 times. One of my favorite songs from WICKED is "For Good" - a song of two friends realizing how much they have loved and changed the life of each other. I often play my CD of WICKED, remembering Ellen with such fondness. My favorite lines from "For Good" are: "Who can say if I've been changed for the better. Because I knew you ...
