Our Whale Watch

Created by lindamatarese 10 years ago
When I visited Ellen in 2008, one of the things we did was go on a whale watch from Morro Bay. The boat was a simple, small pontoon, holding maybe 15 people, none of us wearing life jackets. About 7 miles out, we found we were surrounded by about 8 humpback whales! They were all frolicking about, under and near the boat, putting on a fabulous show for us. One came straight up next to us,giving us the eye. I know there is a term for this, but can't think of it right now. Everyone on the boat was very excited. However, Ellen remained quiet and appeared a bit nervous. It wasn't until we returned to shore that she shared how frightened she was that the huge mammals might capsize our vessel! This sort of whale encounter doesn't happen often and had never happened to either of us in the past. It was an experience we spoke of often. Love you dear friend, in this Earthly journey and beyond......
